Hi Brothers. Everything is going alright here at Ft. McCoy, Wisconsin. We have been here for just over a month. There has been alot of training going on and alot of waiting around. Some things in the Army never change. Our unit has about 120 people from Michigan. There are about 60 more people from three states, Texas, Nebraska, and South Dakota. So far everyone seems to be getting along just fine. We have been firing our weapons, using blanks and live ammo, about once a week. On tuesday this week, we start going on a live fire range while doing covoy operations. When we first arrived here, the plan was to let us go home for Christmas. Things have changed. We can go home for four days before Christmas, or  the other option is 5 days off if you stay with-in 50 miles of Ft.  McCoy. I am going to stay here and my wife, Jenny, is going to come here. I don't know what Matt Shepard is going to do. He is in the barracks next to mine. I see him at least once a day, but his squad does most of their training by themselves. When we first got here he got an infection in his chest, but he is doing fine now. We still don't know when we are leaving here. When my wife gets back from visiting here, feel free to call her, she should know when I'm going to be leaving for Kuwait. I will try to email you again soon. Thank you for all of your support.

P.S. Brother Leland Brooks, your nephew James, is in the same barracks as I am. When I asked him if he was related to you, he said he was, and to say hello for him, so Hello.

Hi Brothers,

Just a quick note to update.  We are finished with our required training.  The unit is getting things in order to ship out.  My wife, Jenny, is coming to Wisconsin tomorrow, and will be staying until after
Christmas.  I will let her know more information about when we are leaving when she gets here.  I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Cristmas and Happy New Year.  Thank all of you for your help during this time.  I will write again as soon as I can.

Best Wishes
Charlie Simpson

Hi Brothers,
We have arrived in Kuwait.  The weather is nicer than Wisconsin.  We are trying to get used to the time change.  Not much going on yet.  The food isn't bad, and they even have a coffee shop.  I'll write again soon.
See ya later.

Subject: Hello Brothers

Hello Brothers.  Hope everyting is going good with all of you.  We have moved to a differant base.  Still waiting to go into Iraq.Shouldn't
be long now.  We have had 2 or 3 days of blowing sand here.  I guess its better than a snowstorm.  They had a Tsunami releif 5K run here yesterday.  Matt and I both ran in it.  It is starting to get a little boring at times.  There are lots of long lines during peak hours such as calling home times, and computer times.  The chow lines are almost non-exhistant here.  The last place we were at you could expect at least a half hour to hour standing in line.  Then again I may have just been hungry
and it seemed that long.  Anyway, the food line goes fast here.  They issued us a bunch of new hunting clothes, I mean cold weather clothes a
couple of days ago.  The place where we picked it up at was the same place that I was at back in 1992.  Not much had changed except that there are alot more troops stationed there.  Well I hope everyone is doing fine and thanks for everything.  I'll write soon.
